LITHIUM BATTERIES

Lithium batteries power many different types of portable electronic devices (PEDs), such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets and power tools. Lithium batteries have become the battery of choice due to their ability to power such devices for long periods of time.

Very stringent regulations apply to the manufacture, testing and transport of lithium batteries and navigating all the regulatory requirements can be confusing and lead to errors in the supply chain.

Providing all the regulatory requirements are complied with, lithium batteries are very safe. The “legitimate” lithium battery industry has a very an exceptional safety record. Unfortunately not all in the supply chain comply with these stringent requirements, either deliberately or through lack of competence.
