This Biological Substance, Category B shipper training course has been designed for personnel preparing packages containing Biological Substance, Category B for carriage by air. This course covers the requirements of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Packing Instruction 650.
Biological Substances, Category B assigned to UN 3373, are human or animal materials that are being transported only for the purpose of diagnosis or investigation. Such materials include excreta, blood and its components, as well as other tissues and fluids. Biological Substances, Category B does not include live infected animals.
Upon successful completion of this training course, individuals will have an understanding of the rules and regulations governing the transport of Biological Substances, Category B including documentation, packaging and marking and labelling requirements for Biological Substances, Category B.

Obviously we wanted to do the course for practical reasons so that we can receive approval, but I think it will also help shape our internal procedures and will ensure we are doing things appropriately and safely going forward. I thought it was a really helpful session.
